Special Tests for Kidney Disease in SKDH

Certain special tests exclusively obtained by Huaxia Kidney Disease Hospital (Huaxia Hospital). Those lab tests can be used to pinpoint the exact site of the immune complexes and to tell the severity degree of kidney damages etc.

Seven Tests for Uremia

1. The determination of serum urea

Urea is the metabolic end-product of amino acid. Its molecular weight is 61. Due to its character, urea can get through glomeruli freely. 50% of the urea in crude urine will be reabsorbed by renal tubulus and concentrated pipe. When the pathological changes occur in renal tubulus, the reabsorption decreases and so does the blood concentration.

2. The determination of serum creatinine (Scr)

Scr is produced by human body in a rather constant quantity. Besides, serum creatinine is often filtered by glomeruli into crude urine, but can’t be reabsorbed by renal tubulus.

3. Urea acid in blood (UA)

UA is the metabolic product from nucleoprotein and purine in nucleic acid. Urea acid can get through the filter membrane of glomeruli freely, and almost all the urea acid is reabsorbed by renal tubulus. That’s why urea acid in blood is affected by the glomerular filtering function and the secretion as well as reabsorption of renal tubulus.

4. β-2 microglobulin

About 99% ofβ-2 microglobulin will be absorbed by proximal tubule in human body. It is more sensitive than serum creatinine.

5. Cysteine protease inhibitor protein C (Cyc C)

Cyc C is a kind of basic protein secreted by all the prokaryotic cells. Almost all the Cyc C will be reabsorbed by proximal tubule. Cyc C has been recommended by urea in blood, Cr and Ccr.

6. RBP (Retinol Binding Protein)

RBP is the translocator for retinol in the blood. It is filtered by glomeruli and is reabsorbed and degraded by proximal renal tubulus. The content of RBP reflects the function and damage extent of proximal tubulus.

The decrease of RBP: vitamin deficiencies, hypoproteinemia, liver disease, hyperthyroidism and trauma etc. An increase of RBP: renal insufficiency and fatty liver.

7. HCY(homocysteine)

HCY has a positive correlation with serum creatinine. The lower the HCY is, the better the perfect biochemical balance the body can keep.

By those seven items, many kidney disease can be detected and find the corresponding treatment plan. Among all those seven items, the serum creatinine, urea nitrogen and urea acid can be done in almost any general hospitals, but the left four items can be done in Huaxia Kidney Disease Hospital only.
