Purpura Nephritis: Causes, Symptoms and Treatments

Purpura Nephritis: Causes, Symptoms and TreatmentsPurpura Nephritis is a serious complication of Henoch-Schonlein Purpura (HSP). If not controlled well, it may develop into kidney failure easily. Therefore, it is necessary to know more about it.

Causes

In purpura, when harmful substances(virus or bacteria) attack the body, the abnormal immune system will release failed antibodies. Accompanied with blood flow, immune complexes may deposit on the kidneys, resulting in inflammation. Eventually, the inflammation will cause damage to the glomeruli.

Besides, other factors are also related to it. Such as, infections, especially the upper respiratory tract infection; certain medications and foods; cold or animal feathers, etc.

Symptoms

Skin rash, it may occur in the limbs, hips and lower abdomen.

Joint pain, about 1/2~2/3 patients will experience pain in their ankles.

Gastrointestinal symptoms, the clinical manifestations can be nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and so on.

In addition, symptoms including blood in urine(both gross hematuria and microscopic hematuria), proteinuria, high blood pressure, swelling, fatigue, etc are also very common.

Treatments

Hormone therapy It’s a commonly used method to treat diseases like purpura nephritis. During the treatment, different immunosuppressive agents will be adopted to refrain the inflammatory response. Even if the efficacy is quick and obvious, the root cause is still not settled. What’s more, it may relapse easily.

Immunotherapy Also known as target therapy, it’s a combination of western medicine, traditional Chinese medicine and blood-purification technique. It consists of six steps, such as, immune diagnosis, immune clearance, immune blocking, immune tolerance, immune adjustment and immune protection.

After a period of treatment, kidney function can be enhanced. Once the underlying cause is settled, symptoms can be relieved. For more info, you can email to:kidneyfight@hotmail.com. Best regards!
