What are the Symptoms of Stage 4 CKD
According to the glomerular filtration rate level, CKD can be divided into five stages. In stage 4 CKD, kidneys are damaged seriously and the GFR level is 15-30 ml/min. Accompanied with decline of kidney function, a series of symptoms will appear. And the possible symptoms are as follows:
Tiredness can be a common symptom of stage 4 CKD. And it will affect patients’ life quality to a large degree. In serious condition, people may quit their jobs due to persistent fatigue. And anemia is often the primary cause.
Nausea and vomiting
As kidneys fail to excrete waste products and toxins out of the body, electrolyte disturbance may occur. When it affects the gastrointestinal tract, patients may present symptoms like nausea and vomiting. And this sign can be very common in the early morning.
Changes of urine
Changes of urine can be concluded into two aspects, on the one hand, there can be foamy urine, tea-colored urine, etc. On the other hand, the urine output can be less than normal or there can be frequent urination at night.
Retention of fluids
During the course, kidneys will fail to work adequately and extra fluid will build up in the kidneys, as a result, fluid retention may occur. And swelling can be seen around the eyelids, ankles, legs, etc. In serious condition, patient can feel shortness of breath.
Except for the above symptoms, they may also experience sleep problems, loss of appetite, kidney pain, nerve problems and so on.
